Abstract:

Based on historical sources and field surveys, this study examines the Ming dynasty military defense system of Songpan Guard across three key dimensions: institutional evolution, civil-military administrative structures, and spatial patterns. By analyzing its functional positioning and spatial organization, the research highlights the unique civil-military governance model used in southwestern ethnic frontier regions, and offers new insights into the broader framework of Ming border defense.
